Workshops and courses at the Ecological Greenhouse
About the Ecological Greenhouse:
Imagine a hot-house the size of a soccer field, 7 meters high, with water pools, fish ponds, algae- growing systems, hydro-phonic systems for growing vegetables, aqua-phonic systems, workshops, round tables and much more… all had been built by Jewish and Arab students and all are parts of projects that managed by students.

The Ecological Greenhouse in Kibbutz Ein-Shemer is an innovative learning environment, where every person is welcome to conduct a research and study fascinating topics in real-life, global environmental challenges, while cooperating with other people in order to experience, to create a meaningful learning process and to feel (like) home.
The Ecological Greenhouse is a place for encounters: Jews, Arabs, religious and secular high-school students meet to learn about the Israeli water, food and climate challenges. Israeli experts, inventors and researches meet the students and help them find solutions, exposing the students to the real world outside the class. Like in nature, art meets technology, biology meets carpentry, and projects are multidisciplinary.
The Greenhouse project represented Israel at the Venice Biennale art exhibition on 1993, guides and inspires many educators, community leaders and inventors who wish to cooperate for the progression of education, environmental science and ecology.

Society & Community: Eco-existence
The way to know Israel is to know its people. This workshop introduces the participants with a different angle of the Israeli society – the Arab minority who lives among it. In the first part of the activity, the participants will learn about the nature of the relations between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel, through the eyes of Jewish and Arab young people (23-30). In the second part of the workshop, we will discover social initiatives aimed at building bridges between the Jewish and Arab teenagers in Israel.
The Eco-existence workshop is taught by the greenhouse’s instructors with a background in social involvement and academic background in political science. The workshop includes a meeting and a conversation with a young Arab-Israeli, a tour to a view point, and tour at the Ecological Greenhouse.

Art, Society & Community: Social Art
This workshop invites the participants to take a different and updated view about Israel‘s social art: the reflection of important points of view in Israel in the expression of art! Going through different points of view in Israel's history, we will track the way those moments and acts reflected on the Israeli art field, and the way that the art influenced the society. Using their creativity, points of view and team mates, the participants will express their point of view about current issues in Israel and their homeland in artistic ways, such as graffiti, paint, sculpture and even singing!

Doing this workshop in the Ecological Greenhouse contributes to the meaning of the discussion on social art in Israel, as a place that symbolizes social art in its being for many people in Israel and from various countries, and as a place that grew many social and community leaders and initiatives.
The Social Art workshop is taught by young Israeli artists!
